Teri McHugh is a Shareholder at Boyle | Shaughnessy Law who practices in the firm’s Boston and Manchester offices. Teri’s practice concentrates in civil litigation focusing on workers’ compensation litigation as well as professional malpractice litigation, product liability litigation, construction defect and accident litigation, employment litigation, and pharmacy liability litigation. Teri manages and oversees the Workers’ Compensation Group at the firm.

Teri practices in state and federal trial courts as well as administrative agencies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Teri has significant experience in the workers’ compensation arena representing insurers, self-insurers and self-insured groups. Teri has successfully defended numerous workers compensation claims brought by employees on behalf of her clients resulting in denials of employees’ claims as well as receiving orders allowing her clients to modify and/or discontinue employees’ benefits. Teri also has significant appellate experience and has successfully handled several appeals before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

Teri was appointed by Massachusetts’ Governor Deval Patrick as a business representative and voting member of the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council. Teri is a member of the American Society of Workers Compensation Professionals, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and the Women’s Bar Association. She has served as a lecturer and panelist for numerous continuing legal education programs for workers’ compensation. Teri has also authored various legal works including The D.I.A. - Using Technology to Make the Worker's Compensation System More Efficient, The Standard, Vol. 258, No. 18, Pg. 26 (May 2006).

Prior to joining Boyle | Shaughnessy Law, Teri served as an Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County.

Teri received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law where she was a Board Member of the Jessup International Moot Court, a law clerk to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in Dade County, Miami, Florida and served as a Certified Legal Intern to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. She received her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Brandeis University where she studied Mathematics.
